“I have always enjoyed to work on different kind of bass arrangements. The song “A Last Farewell” on the Obscura album “Diluvium” is only recorded with bass guitar sounds for example. This time I used a different approach. I picked some of my favorite song parts by bands that I’ve played in and changed the arrangements so it can be played with 2 basses. A strong part works in different contexts. Furthermore it was important to me to use different techniques and playing methods to make the arrangements. This way they can be a good inspiration for you hopefully. Except Obsidious, it’s the first time that I offer any bass tabs of these bands by the way.
About AI: Tools like Midjourney, OpenAI‘s DALL-E and StyleGAN create mind-blowing results based on various text prompts. I created accounts on various platforms and started to play around with different ideas. As a musician you have plenty of waiting time at airports, backstage, etc. Those moments I used to dive into the world of AI generated images.
I wondered what images an AI based generator would produce if I feed it with words that describe my music. So I used lyrics and different word combinations that I felt while listening or composing the music. Eventually I was so amazed by the results that I decided to use them for a project. In this book you can see the bass transcriptions of the arrangements mentioned above, as well as the corresponding artwork that I created with the tool “Midjourney” and “DALL-E”.
I hope you enjoy playing the bass lines and feel inspired!” – Linus Klausenitzer
