Workshop at Guitar Summit 2019

Metal-Bass mit Linus Klausenitzer
Bass Stage – Darkglass
September 27 @ 14:45

Metal needs innovation: it’s the best timing to make bass more interesting again.

This workshop is not only for bassists but for everyone who wants to arrange interesting bass lines. Linus Klausenitzer will present classic bass sounds, equipment tips and musical potential for the future metal scene.

Known for his significant 6/7 string fretless bass sound Darkglass Elektronics artist Linus Klausenitzer gained international fame. With German’s biggest active Death Metal band OBSCURA he has toured intensely all around the world since 2011. His second band Alkaloid was the first German Death Metal band to ever perform in Egypt.
Linus Klausenitzer is also known for his bass masterclasses (“Wacken Music Camp”, “Popakademie” and many more). As a studio artist he recorded with musicians like Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani, Kreator, etc.), Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore), and Marty Friedman (Megadeth).

Darkglass Electronics Endorsement

“I have always been very critical about distortion pedals on bass. They often kill the attack and hide the character of a player. But Darkglass Elektronic worked on solutions for exactly those problems and created pedals that made my concerns completely obsolete. I am proud to represent their innovative products.”- Linus Klausenitzer

Music crew of the Wacken Music Camp

At the „Wacken Music Camp“ teenagers have the opportunity to work on their own music being supported by experienced musicians and producers of the scene (musicians from Saxon, Subway To Sally and many others). Known for his significant 6/7 string fretless bass sound Linus Klausenitzer gained international fame. With his Death Metal band Obscura he has toured intensely all around the world.

As a son of two musicians, Linus Klausenitzer was faced with music at a very young age. Before he found his passion in playing the bass when he was 15 years old, he learned to play piano and trumpet. After graduating at a musical secondary school, he studied at the music college in Regensburg and graduated from a study course in popmusic at the conservatory in Hamburg. Having gained experience in bands of several genres, the German bass player found his main place in the genre that he has always loved most: Metal Music.

Linus Klausenitzer joins the Ernie Ball artist family

“For my playing I need heaviness and a full tone for higher frequencies. Due to the strong magnetism the output of Ernie Ball Cobalt strings is magnificent. Their sound and quality fit my needs perfectly.” – Linus Klausenitzer

Ernie Ball, the world’s leading manufacturer of strings and accessories, has been making high-quality electric guitar and bass strings since 1962. World-class players like Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Slash, Jimmy Page, and Buddy Guy have all played Ernie Ball strings to create their unique sound.

Cobalt strings provide an extended dynamic range, incredible harmonic response, increased low end, and crisp, clear highs.
Cobalt provides a stronger magnetic relationship between pickups and strings than any other alloy previously available. Cobalt Slinky bass guitar strings are also soft and silky to the touch, making string bending a breeze.

New Bass Playthrough: Diluvium

Notreble.com is featuring the first bass playthrough video for Obscura’s new album “Dilivium”.

Linus Klausenitzer: “When I planned to record a playthrough video I decided to play the title track of the album. It is very different to what we have composed before and it has become one of my favorite tracks playing live. For this video I wanted to have a visual setup in the style of the album artwork so we recorded it during our Diluvium Amerika tour. The bass that I use is an Ibanez Custom Fretless BTB based on a BTB1826E Premium.
On the Official OBSCURA website we offer free playbacks for bassists that want to play their own version of the songs of Diluvium. Also all bass tablature books are available there.”
